House Fire Upper King Road

On Tuesday morning at 0813, the Kent County Dispatch Center dispatched the Camden-Wyoming Fire Company for a residential fire in the 3200 block of Upper King Road. Rescue Captain John Wothers (41-21) arrived at 0814 to find a 1 and a half story residence with nothing evident and established command. Upon the 360 degree size up, command found smoke coming from the eaves and windows on the Charlie side of the structure. Engine 41-3 under the direction of Deputy Chief Chris Dufresne (41-16) and a crew of 6 arrived and advanced a 1 3/4" hand line to the second floor. Rescue 41 under the direction of Fire Chief Harold Scott Jr. (41-15) and a crew of five split their crew into laddering the structure, securing the utilities and performing a primary search. The crew from 41-3 made an aggressive attack and kept the fire to the floor of orgin. Engine 46-3 and Ladder 46-1 (Dover) arrived and started ventilation of the roof with the crew of Rescue 41. Engine-Tanker 48-5 (Felton) arrived and relieved the crew of 41-3 once the fire had been knocked down while Engine 55-4 (Magnolia) was assigned as the RIT. Command placed the incident under control at 0830 with all units clearing the scene at 0853. A55 (Magnolia) and KM7 (Kent County ALS) performed the EMS standby. The cause is currently under investigation by the Delaware State Fire Marshals Office. The Red Cross was notified for the displaced family.
